CIVCO’s new Individual Head Support provides customized head and neck positioning during radiation therapy treatment and diagnostic procedures. Using specially shaped impression foam combined with fabric-coated thermoplastic, the Individual Head Support gives clinicians the power to customize position and support to each patient. The flexibility of the heated thermoplastic allows easy molding of the impression foam to the individual patient’s anatomy, maximizing both patient comfort and reproducibility of positioning. Once cooled, the thermoplastic binds the foam to the molded shape. The Individual Head Support has been used with traditional thermoplastic masks, as well as with more rigid head frames, to deliver stereotactic radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery.
