Designed to meet the ergonomic needs of sonographers, the KanguruWeb® Abdominal Retraction System offers a simple and reliable method of retracting the abdominal pannus for unrestricted access to the desired imaging area, improving image quality, patient comfort and reducing sonographer stress and musculoskeletal injuries. The non-invasive system provides secure, unrestricted access to the lower abdomen and groin site without irritating and tearing the patient’s skin. The KanguruWeb System consists of an easy-to-use two-part system including a Universal Base Unit (UBU) and a disposable web. Designed from high density polyethylene, the UBU is lightweight and ergonomically contoured to fit most beds, gurneys and exam tables. The UBU should be positioned prior to patient transfer or slid underneath the patient as necessary. For proper positioning, the UBU should be aligned above the patient’s iliac crest (top of the hip bone) for optimal results. The UBU is reusable and may be cleaned with soap and warm water or an approved hospital disinfectants. A color coded disposable web easily attaches to the UBU through corresponding cleats. Manufactured from non-woven polypropylene fabric and polyester strapping, the web is sold non-sterile and will accommodate patients up to 550 pounds. The web is recommended for single-patient use only.
