  • 1981

    Founded by Victor J. Wedel, a diagnostic medical sonographer working at the University of Iowa Hospitals

  • 1984

    CIVCO launched its first line of ultrasound probe covers, including latex and polyethylelene covers.

  • 1987

    CIVCO invented and commercialized the first disposable needle guidance system

  • 1989

    CIVCO introduced CIV-Flex, a non-latex polyurethane transducer cover line.

  • 1992

    CIVCO built a new 15,000-square foot corporate headquarters facility in Kalona, Iowa.

  • 1992

    CIVCO entered the prostate brachytherapy market with the development of the Ultra-Step stepping device.

  • 1993

    CIVCO introduced the Ultra-Pro needle guidance system. President Victor J. Wedel was named Inc Magazine High Technology Entrepreneur of the Year.

  • 1996

    CIVCO released the Ultra-Pro II needle guidance system. CIVCO received ISO 9001 certification.

  • 1998

    CIVCO received EN46001 and CE certification.

  • 1999

    CIVCO acquired the assets of ATL Accessories, the ultrasound supplies business of Philips Medical Systems.

  • 2002

    CIVCO acquired Barzell-Whitmore Maroon-Bells, Inc, a designer and manufacturer of prostate treatment positioning and stabilizing devices.

  • 2004

    CIVCO released the Ultra-Pro 3 needle guidance device. President Charles Klasson was named Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year.

  • 2005

    CIVCO was acquired by Roper Technologies, becoming the first medical device company in the Roper portfolio.

  • 2008

    CIVCO released the AccuSITE out-of-plane needle guide designed for central line placement procedures. CIVCO also released the Infiniti needle guide for point-of-care in-plane needle guidance procedures, such as regional anesthesia nerve blocks.

  • 2009

    CIVCO introduced the first of its electromagnetic needle tracking devices, eTRAX and VirtuTRAX.

  • 2011

    Opened new corporate headquarters facility in Coralville, Iowa.

  • 2012

    CIVCO introduced the OmniTRAX CT patient tracking device for fusion imaging and released the Infiniti Plus needle guide for regional anesthesia.

  • 2013

    Introduced the EX3 stepper device for prostate cancer treatment.

  • 2015

    Released the OmniTRAX MR&reade; active patient tracker for synchronizing ultrasound and MR images in real time.

  • 2016

    Acquired PCI Medical and entered the high-level disinfection market. Released the Verza needle guidance system with input from leading physicians around the world.

  • 2017

    Introduced the VerzaLink direct attach locating feature, allowing for bracket-free needle guidance.

  • 2018

    Expanded Coralville headquarter facility, doubling its size.

  • 2019

    CIVCO introduced Envision, the first gel-free viral barrier for ultrasound procedures. CIVCO was recognized by the Corridor Business Journal as the Coolest Place to Work.
